Kin Arabian Arousal
On a short race card, the Arabian runners, provided the stiffest
competition. Kin Park had a large turnout and five races for
opening day. One Quarter Horse and three thoroughbred races
were all won in handy fashion.
The Kin Park Arabian Handicap was the real deal, just a neck
separating the first two finisher and the crowd on their feet
cheering. Local jock Corrine Sengotta picked up her third winner
of the day aboard Mary VoulwareÕs Zales Storm. Trained by Jake
Born Zales Storm set a pressured pace as stable mate Special
Edition pressed to the half. Then the classy grey Njtutron moved
into contention at the head of the lane. Zales Storm held back
the closing grey as fans rose to their feet for the finish.
Sengotta won the first, a quarter horse race, with Jim and Joy
HilleÕs Dream Ofa Doll. The daughter of War Easy Jet won by
2 lengths earning a 75 speed index for the effort. The runner
up was former champion Patience 109. In the second Corrine flew
to the top with J Hardie & S PaceÕs McGinty and was three in
front at the quarter pole, McGinty had six at the top of the
stretch and coasted home nearly five lengths the best.
Coastal bugboy Jeff Burningham had his first interior win with
MugÕs & JugsÕ Brown Thing. It looked easy as Brown Thing set
the fractions a length in front, then was four lengths clear
at the wire.
The final race started easy as Monte BurbankÕs Staged Reality
won his second in row. Away alertly Staged Reality relaxed before
moving into contention. Jockey Ron Bilodeau took the Washington
based runner to the front widening the margin to 8 lengths and
winning in hand.
