THE AUCTION METHOD OF MARKETING
It is my job to promote and talk
about the Auction method of marketing. Valley Auction has promoted
this marketing concept for well over 36 years. The determining
factor in finding out what something is worth is by competing
bidders on a time deadline! the auction method brings all the
players together to bid on the item or object on one day. Competition
creates a market and determines the worth. Sometimes the worth
of the object or animal is different than what the owner has in
mind, but quality determines some of the worth and just because
we are the owners doesn't make it worth more. Valley Auction in
Armstrong has promoted the Auction Method of marketing for over
36 years . Over the years we have seen many changes including
improvements of cattle breeds, horses and all other types of livestock.
The innovation of computers has taken out the guess work of the
predictability of the livestock's performance for feeding, breeding
and future genetics. Video cameras, computers and satellites have
all helped enhance the auction marketing method. the sale ring
is still the most popular and effective way to sell all types
of cattle in my opinion. There are some out in the industry who
will argue these points, but in the long haul the price for cattle
sold at home is still determined by an auction ring somewhere.
Good Luck and good marketing. ..........Don Raffin
